Cheesy Chicken Crescent Rolls Recipe: A Quick and Delicious Dinner Idea

Ingredients

  • Crescent roll dough: The base for these rolls giving them that perfectly flaky texture.
  • Cooked chicken: Rotisserie chicken is a lifesaver here! It saves so much time but you can also use leftover chicken from another meal.
  • Cream cheese: This adds a creamy tangy richness that pairs perfectly with the chicken and cheese.
  • Shredded cheese: I use a mix of cheddar and mozzarella for a melty cheesy filling, but feel free to get creative with your cheese choices.
  • Seasonings: A little garlic powder onion powder, salt, and pepper round out the flavor.
  • Butter: To brush on top of the rolls making them golden and delicious.

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures that your crescent rolls bake up nice and crispy.

Step 2: Prepare the Chicken Mixture

  • In a medium bowl, shred your cooked chicken (if you’re using rotisserie chicken, just pull it apart with your fingers). Add cream cheese, shredded cheese, and your seasonings. Mix everything together until it’s well combined. This is where the magic happens! The cream cheese makes everything so creamy and delicious, while the cheese adds that irresistible gooey factor.

Step 3: Roll It Up

  • Unroll the crescent dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You’ll want to pinch the seams together to make sure it forms one solid piece. Then, spoon the cheesy chicken mixture onto each triangle of dough. Carefully roll them up, tucking in the ends so the filling doesn’t leak out.

Step 4: Bake and Brush with Butter

  • Place the rolls on the baking sheet, making sure they’re not too crowded. Bake them in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. While they’re baking, melt a little butter in the microwave and brush it over the tops of the rolls once they come out of the oven. This adds a nice, buttery flavor that makes them even more irresistible.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!

  • Let the rolls cool for a few minutes before serving. They’re best enjoyed warm, straight out of the oven. I usually serve them with a side salad or some roasted vegetables to balance out the richness of the rolls.
